Perfectionism versus excellence, a battle within our soul One drive by fear, the other by a higher goal Perfectionism says, “You must never make a mistake” Excellence says, “Do you best and learn from every step you take”
Perfectionism demands, “You must always be flawless” Excellence understand, “Perfection is an unattainable process” Perfectionism leads to anxiety and self-doubt Excellence leads to growth and progress throughout.
In the Bible, we see examples of both approaches David’s heart for God, his excellence he chose He didn’t aim for perfection, but for obedience and love And in his imperfection, God’s grace was more than enough
Jesus too showed us the way to excellence Not by being flawed, but by living with love and benevolence He knew he was human, with weaknesses and flaws But he chose to trust God’s guidance to fulfill His cause
So let us aim for excellence, with humility and grace Not for perfectionism, a never-ending race Let us learn from our failures, and grow through each one And trust in God’s plan, for His will shall be done.
